Clay's association with Vincent began when the two of them were members of Johnny Dollar in 2005, shortly before Vincent left to start Big Daddy Rhythm & the Heavyweights.  Since BDR's inception, Clay has been an honorary member of sorts, occasionally playing shows with the band whenever his schedule would allow.  Clay grew up and trained in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  After schooling and regional performance experience in the capital area, he moved to North Carolina to continue his formal training.  But, his skills as an entertainer and showman developed when he began to work with various beach music and variety bands, including Big John Thompson and the Rhythm Brothers, Johnny Dollar, and most recently, The Embers.  Clay plans to finish his schooling to obtain a degree in music therapy.
